Paris, 19 May 2021 - Sopra Steria, a European leader in consulting, digital services, and software development, is supporting through its Aeroline vertical, Safran Aircraft Engines, a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of engines for civil and military aircraft, in the overhaul of its information system.

Building on its 15-year partnership with Safran, its expertise in the aeronautics sector, and its experience in integrating SAP solutions, Sopra Steria will integrate and then deploy Safran Aircraft Engines' new ERP as part of the "SAP INDUSTRY" programme. Based on an S/4HANA solution, the project will help to modernise the information system for more than 6,500 users across 13 industrial sites, 8 countries, and 4 continents. The objective is to replace nearly 200 existing applications. As a result, the future solution will become the new foundation of Safran Aircraft Engines’ and some of its subsidiaries’ information system.

The "SAP INDUSTRY" programme was subject to an initial 9-month scoping phase in 2019, the aim of which was to define the functional requirements to be covered by the future solution, while complying with the SAP standards. 25 consultants from Sopra Steria Next supported all the different business areas impacted (Production, Logistics, Finance, etc.) at Safran Aircraft Engines.

The second phase of development and deployment began at the end of 2020. It will involve up to 150 Sopra Steria employees and as many Safran Aircraft Engines employees over a period of over four years, in order to integrate the S/4HANA solution while standardising business processes accross each of the engine manufacturer's sites and various subsidiaries.

"The progressive rollout of this new solution is essential to transform our information system and optimise our processes across all our locations. It also allows us to support our industrial performance and our digital transformation strategy through better data management." said Claude Quillien, Director of Manufacturing & Supply Chain at Safran Aircraft Engines and sponsor of the project.

"We are very proud to have been selected as a partner of Safran Aircraft Engines to lead this strategic transformation programme alongside them. This large-scale project perfectly illustrates our end-to-end strategy in the aeronautics sector and our ability to design and lead major transformation projects," said Xavier Pecquet, Aeroline Director and member of the Executive Committee at Sopra Steria.
